The Balkans: balkanalia!, 8/31–9/3
Spend the long Labor Day weekend (Friday evening through Monday morning) immersed in Balkan music and dance, with friends from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy three idyllic days with an incredible gathering of campers, musicians, dancers and singers. The kid- and beginner-friendly camp features daytime classes and evening parties with live music.

Romania: Romanian Festival, 9/1–9/2

Party like a Transylvanian! Guest artists, the Romanian folk dance troupe “Doina” from Canton, Ohio, will highlight St. Mary’s 9th annual Romanian Festival. The ensemble, renown for their authentic performances, music and costumes, is considered the premier Romanian group in the U.S. Featured also are children’s attractions, historic heroes portrayed, tours of the traditional Romanian Orthodox Church and a drawing for a trip to Romania. The event will offer ethnic cuisine, traditional pastries and imported Romanian wine & beer.

The 35th annual Middle Eastern Festival will feature food, games, Middle Eastern folk dancing, music and church tours. There will be a number of children’s games and activities, and Orthodox Christian jewelry and other goods for sale.
Cappella Romana, a Pacific Northwest-based chamber vocal ensemble, will perform two free concerts at 2:30 and 4 p.m., performing Slavic music from the 17th and 18th centuries.
